Course overview

An intensive, advanced-level workshop designed for experienced mediators who are ready to deepen their skills.

This advanced program is designed for experienced family therapists and related professionals who want to enhance their practice when working with diverse clients and complex family dynamics. Through five interactive workshops, you’ll explore progressive approaches to family therapy, develop child‑focused interventions, and strengthen your skills for supporting culturally diverse and gender-diverse families.

Delivered with a trauma-informed and strengths-based lens, the program blends theory with applied practice, equipping you with practical tools you can integrate immediately into your work.

We recommend participants have prior training in systemic family therapy and be actively engaged in clinical or therapeutic practice.

Course structure

The Advanced Family Therapy Program builds on the core foundations of systemic family therapy and supports participants to refine and extend their practice.
Across five workshops, you will:

Module 1: Revisiting the fundamental principles of systemic family therapy
Module 2: Implications of interventions when working with different family cultures, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Module 3: Implications of engaging neurodiverse gender-diverse clients
Module 4: Tailored child-focused family interventions
Module 5 : Integrating learning and application to your current work role

About the presenters

Lilia Szarski is a clinical supervisor and experienced trainer at Relationships Australia Victoria and a registered psychologist. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, the International Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the International Association of Applied Psychologists.

Lilia brings deep expertise in systemic practice, supervision, and working with diverse families, ensuring participants are supported with both clinical insights and practical application.

Enrolment and course access

When you register, you will be directed to our secure payment gateway. Once confirmed, a new account will be created for you in our Learning Management System (Moodle), where you’ll access course resources and participation details.

Please note:

  • Registrations close 48 hours before the workshop
  • Payment must be received at least 2 business days before the course
  • If paying by invoice, proof of payment must be provided 24 hours prior
